Haiyang Chen, Ph.D.
Dr. Haiyang Chen received his B.S. in Economics from University of International Business and Economics in Beijing, China in 1982. He received a Master of International Management from Thunderbird School of Global Management in 1984, and his Ph.D. in Business Administration from the Graduate School of Management at Kent State University in 1990.
Dr. Chen started his academic career in 1988. He served as Dean and Professor at Marshall University Lewis College of Business in Huntington, WV from 2013 to 2016. Dr. Chen has focused his research and published forty peer-reviewed papers in the areas of foreign direct investments, corporate finance, and financial planning education. His teaching interests are in corporate finance, personal finance and international business.
He published over 40 peer reviewed papers in the field of International Business, Finance, and others including many in the top-level A Journals, such as Journal of International Business Studies, International Business Review, Management International Review, International Marketing Review, Journal of Business Research, and Financial Management. He was the most cited author and the contributor of the second most cited article in Financial Services Review, the official publication of Academy of Financial Services; and received the Best Paper Award from a conference of China Management Science organized by the editorial board of the Journal of Chinese Management Science. He was recognized the University Distinguished Professor in
Scholarship Award, Distinguished Member of Graduate Faculty, and Excellence of Service Award.
Dr. Chen joined the Council of Chinese American Deans and Presidents (CCADP) in April 2014 and participated in its annual forums in 2014 in Chicago and in 2015 in Houston. He has worked with other members to promote CCADP membership among Chinese American administrators in higher education institutions in the U.S.
